I've been off the pill for 6 months now and my period has been like clockwork, every 28 days (apart from the first month when my body was readjusting). This month I was a week late and was convinced I was pregnant (I had aching breasts & felt really tired). My period came but only lasted 2 days and was fairly light (my period usually lasts 5 days and is heavy). I have also had really bad headaches all weekend and felt really tired.
Last week I did a hpt which showed -tive. My mum said that my grandma had periods for 6 months when she was pregnant and tests all came back negative.
Is it possible that this could run in the family and there's a chance that I am pregnant?

the light periods could be a sign cos you still bleed sometimes when the egg implants itself into the lining of the womb. as for negative hpt you can get a wrong negative but never a wrong posative. in other words keep testing until it comes up positive or consult your gp.
try not to worry it is quit possible that this does run in familys.
take care

Hi Kcutts I am in a similar predicament. I have been off my pill for around 3 weeks. I stopped taking it before I finished the packet. I came on my period which lasted seven days. My hubby and I started trying as soon as it ended. A couple of days after finishing I had a spotting and have since kept having period pains and sore breasts - what is going on??

I had all sorts of symptoms when I first came off the pill - i thought I was pregnant for the first couple of months as I had tender breats, pains in stomach etc. but it turned out to be my body just sorting itself out. However, my sister who came off the pill the same time as me caught on as soon as she came off the pill - so I suppose its just a case of wait and see.
Its really annoying waiting tho isn't it.

Very confusing! I did read the other day that some can be highly fertile when they come off the pill. Very scary. How long was it before your sister caught on?

She came off the pill the first week in January and according to the doctor, she conceived on something like the 10th of Feb, so i think she had one period after coming off the pill until she caught on (the lucky thing).
