Everyone has them, it's just whether they appear through the gum line or not! I got all of mine by the time I was 18. My friend is in her 40's and is only just getting hers now [ ] Slightly off topic but i remember when I was younger my friend bringing into work some X-rays of her Mum's mouth. It was totally amazing, this lady still had all her milk teeth (still in perfect condition) and not only was there a layer of teeth still in the gums waiting to come down but there was actually another layer of teeth above those as well!!!! Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all had layer upon layer of teeth? If we ever had a problem we could get the dentist to whip it out and grow another one! I think this poor lady was being touted as some sort of freak show but I thought it was amazing

Not all people get wisdom teeth. We all have wisdom teeth that grow inside our jaw. But some peoples teeth never "erupt" and remain in the jaw. Sometimes they cause no problems, but occasionally they start growing the wrong way and become impacted into the bone of the jaw. Then they become painful, or infected. These are the ones we normally take out in theatre. I have NO wisdom teeth at all, either in the Jaw, mouth or gums. Some childrens wisdom teeth are reabsorbed for one reason or another. (at least that is what they told me). Anyway. In short, most people have wisdom teeth, in most people they erupt and are in the mouth, some don't and stay in the jaw, but a few dont have wisdom teeth at all. Hope this helps Jax

Not all wisdom teeth when they come through only 2 of minehurt badly the other 2 didnt hurt as much. I was born with my bottom 2 baby teeth which people say is extraordinary.

Ok look---NOT EVERYONE HAS WISDOM TEETH. PERIOD. I have had extensive xrays on my jaw because I just don't have them. Not anywhere. So---no not everyone has them. Please stop repeating that everyone has them. I am a living testament to being born with no traces of wisdom teeth. Thanks
Chantel

every one has wisdom teeth but sometimes you just can't see them you will get them and most of the time they just don't come out of your gum and it looks lie you don't have any. Ask a dentist if you are not sure.

yeah ok people, i really think you need to read what chantel is trying to say! i too DO NOT have wisdom teeth. Its not because i had them removed, and its not because they just havent come up yet! its because THEY JUST ARENT THERE!! I have had OPG's which are full mouth x-rays, and there are no wisdom teeth under my gums. I never have had them and I never will have them. Something to do with evolution.
