I'd definately like to take part in a series if i had another baby. My homebirth was such a wionderful experiance, although long and hard. My m/ws told me that had i gone on for so long, with the size of my daughter and her posterior positioning i would almost certainly have been advised to have an epidural and then more intervention with possibly a c-section. Thankfully at home we just went for it, and Carly was born spine to spine, without a scrath at 9lbs 3oz.

my last baby was 12lb and born at home conciderably past my due dates. i know had i been induced or birthing in hospital he would have been a sunroof babe, i'm glad of my decision to stay at home. i think longer labours give your body time to gear up and do the work. at home this means that you are not under potocals of hospitals and you are comfortable with your surroundings that it doesn't seem as long as it would in hospital.

It's amazing that women are told so often that they can't birth big babies. Our bodies can do much more than most people give them credit for.

You are so right Mazz. I co-run our local homebirth group and the majority of babies born since we started it have been over 9lb. My DS2 was 9lb 5oz born at home with no problems at all, in fact the only baby I've had to have stitches with was the one who was under 7lb.

hi, ive just had my 1st homebirth (although 2nd child)
on sunday 12th june.
what a wonderful expereince. i was a week overdue and thought that a hospital birth was imminent, but no. it was very calming and relaxing being in my own home, and in a birth pool. the midwives were fantastic although i had never met them before as my mw was off duty. they let me take control and listen to my body. it took 4 hours all in all, and within 1/2 of giving birth to my wonderful 9lb son "tatum" my husband son and i were tucked up in our bed, grinning like cheshire cats!!! no cuts or tears either.!!!! how proud i am!!![Smiler][Smiler][Smiler]

my 3rd daughter was born at home on 17th june, with a true knot in her cord and a big scream announcing her arrival [8D] wasn't outside as the weather wasn't so good, so pool was set up in the back room and she was born in the lounge in the end. m/w's were wonderful, both happy to take my lead and respected my choices.
