What a lovely story Bugchick[Big Grin]. Birth is something that can be soooo normal. It makes me sad that docs like to meddle and interfere and make it something medical and clinical. I hope that homebirths are going to be on the increase! [Wink]

Thanks!
I wanted a homebirth with my second and third child too but because my first had a serious congenital heart defect I was talked out of it each time [Frowner]
This time I knew that they weren't allowed to refuse me, thanks to my SIL telling me so. I also knew that my baby was unlikely to have a heart defect, as I'd paid for a very detailed scan (primarily to sex my daughter, but they looked at the heart for me too).
It was an awesome experience, I'd ecommend it to anyone [Smiler]

Well done bugchick!
I am so pleased to hear your story - you are amazing.[Big Grin]
You must feel really empowered by your experience and your family must be ever so proud.

Wow. What about this mornings homebirth diary! When i had my 2nd daughter at home, after the birth my m/ws told me that had they known she was 9lbs 3oz (she was also posterior) that i would have been advised to stay at home, in case of shoulder dysplasia. I was delighted to see 11lb 12oz Gabrielle on HBD this morning, birthed without so much as a scratch to mum, and with the shoulder dysplasia handled so wonderfully by the m/w. Magic. [Big Grin]

Hopefully my daughter will become a mother one day and I want her to think of birth as something normal, not a horrible hospitalised experience.

I absolutely agree. My children are 5 and 3 and absolutely fascinated. If we have any more i just know they'll want to be there.

Afternoon All

I am due my first baby in July and have a planned Home Birth. It has been my first choice for delivery and although I met with some opposition from my GP my midwife has been so supportive and see's Home Births as a normal option depending on how I feel. I am so excited that our child will be born into the home in which he/she will grow up.

It is a fabulous time and the programme has shown me just how much comfort and empowerment and satisfaction other women derive from being at home and in control their way. It has also given my partner some reassurance that child birth can be done safely outside the hospital environment.

I wish I didn't have to work so that I could watch more of them!!!!

I would love to take part in the show as I feel that the episodes I have seen are invaluable to someone in my particular position. It is a good opportunity to get some first hand experiences of what lies ahead for someone considering a Home Birth regardless of whether it's baby number 1,2 or 6! Thanks. Kate

Any chance of a new series of homebirth diaires? The repeats are great but I'm sure there must be lots of new material out there now. How about it?

I must admit i have not read the whole thread.

Women have been givine birth many a years without so called hospitals, fair play more babies died BUT technology has come along way too.

Hospitals and staff are nothing but lies, who repeatidly let you down time after time, or so ive found anyway.

They want to do this bloods, do that bloods, take that urine, then monitor you on a machine - whats 'normal' about any of that, what is the normal is going into dirty hospitals and catching some sort of disease !

My first baby was breech so i was forced into making the caesarean decision. Not a thing was pleasent about that experience and i cannot go into greater detail as im in pieces still and this was nov 2004 !

June 2006 i had a successful home birth, though the 'health professionals' again were rude to me etc..

I cannot express how much this home birth meant to me, its a magical CALM experience, to labour in your own surroundings, to know the midwife isnt going to leavve you for her tea break etc..

I am pregnant again, due in july this year and would love to feature on HBD's.

I havent seen it on tele now in ages- when is it coming back - even if it is repeats?

xx

E.D.D 23rd July, bump number 3!!
