Hi Nina, hope you're not too sick of this topic to answer some questions from a VERY interested newbie?!
Gastric banding is something I've been really interested in for a while now but I've put off doing anything about it until I have my second baby (due in 10 weeks time)! I've read everything you've posted and am amazed by how successful you've been and how fantastic you look - CONGRATULATIONS!
I have done LL too, I did it in 2006 and in 6 months I lost 7st, I thought my problems were solved but they were just beginning. After I started eating again I realised that I was bingeing, panicking about gaining weight and then bingeing even more. I was absolutely paranoid about how others saw me and was so ashamed it took a huge effort to leave the house. I was treated for depression and diagnosed with binge-eating disorder then had months of counselling.
I'm happy to say that I'm through the other end now, I'm no longer being treated for depression and I've finished my sessions with my CBT therapist but unfortunately the weight has leapt back on again.
So ... (sorry for the long story) ... I am seriously considering banding as an option once I've given my body time to recover from having my baby. Do you think it's a viable option to consider, even with a history of bingeing?
Anyway ... I'll end off now. Congratulations on reaching the 10 stone mark and thanks for "listening"!
I am glad to have found you!!!! I had a band fitted 2 & a half weeks ago and am feeling so down. I am sick to the back teeth of soup and just the thought of it now is making me feel sick. I did really well on the pre op diet but things have slowed down. How can that be when I am hardly eating a thing!!?? From now on you are to be my inspiration!!!!!
Hi all, cant vouch for the genuineness (is that a word?) but E Bay are offering a Lap Band surgery in New York for $6800 including air fare! Mine cost £8000 here!
Good Luck

Hi Nina Congratulations I see your still doing well.
Our website is growing too. Probably as a result of you allowing our link in this thread so thanks you. We now have over 70 members all pre and post band op and they help eachother everyday. Hopefully we can help your readers too. We have no adverts plastered everywhere either so as not to confuse. Good luck Nina and Thanks

Hi I had a gastric band fitted in March 2008. It didn't make any difference at all until my 3rd adjustment in August. I've gone from 17st to my current weight of 14st. Although the weight loss is everything I wanted it to be, the gastric band has been a nightmare. The initial insertion and even the adjustments have been ok but I dread meal times. Regularly the food I eat "gets stuck" and cannot be released until I've been sick. I can eat something one day without a problem and the next day I just cannot get it down. Apparantly the band is affected by how you're feeling for example if I'm anxious, nothing will go down. This is definately not the easy option. Although I have lost weight which is what I wanted I wasn't made aware of all the after effects. If I could afford it I would have it taken out and have a bypass instead.

I’ve never had any issues with the band being tight at different parts of the day. In fact, its much looser than I expected. I have restriction, but I’ve never thrown up or anything like that. I should probably get it filled tighter. I’m very rarely hungry.
