I'm a returner to CD after having lost about 3 stone on LL & CD about 2 years ago I've put it all back on unfortuntely. I need to see some quick weight loss to keep me motivated & last time I did the diets I managed to stick to it really well but this time I've had a few failed attempts at getting back on it.
My main problem is I hate the soups & bars & don't much most of the sakes either but perservere by just drinking them quickly.
Does anyone know if I can substitute the bars with slimfast bars as they just taste so much better I think if it's possible might make it more bearable for me.
It's really inspiring to read everyone's posts on this forum, I don't post often but read alot.
I'm on day 3 at the moment but did have a blip at lunchtime yesterday. Drinking lots of water but it's so hard getting back into this diet.
If anyone knows about the possibility of swapping CD bars with slimfast one's I'd be really pleased to hear about it.
Hiya, well done for taking the plunge and posting! The main issue with slimfast is that it is pretty high in carbs, and that might prevent you from getting in to ketosis. You need to do a like for like comparison with the 2 products and see if the nutritional values match really. Sorry, that's not a great help really is it?

HI THERE I like the cd bars but for a change sometimes i use atkins bars as they are yummy, a bit higher in calories but only 2 net carbs or sero bars which i get from e bay , these are chewy bars and are low in calories and are only 1.5 net carbs, both keep me in ketosis hope this helps laura
Neither of these bars are compatible with CD you will fall below the safe nutritional levels for a Very Low Calorie Diet. Even if you remain in ketosis you will fall short of essential nutrients.
There are more flavours now than when you last used CD perhaps you will like those more.

I say that because it is a fact and with all due respect to GP's they are not trained in CD products and a lot of them are not nutritionally trained. The other bars are a good source of vitamins and nutrients, however, not safe for use with 2 other CD products if you were using them as part of a Low Calorie Diet as opposed to a Very Low Calorie Diet with strict guidance monitored by NICE then they would be okay.
By using these it is more than likely you will feel hungry and not be able to stay with the plans.

I disagree as the doctor i saw is a trained diabetic doctor and dietician and i would have thoguth have had much more training than a cd counsellor, i speak from personal expereince and lost 2 and a half stone by using other bars sometimes, i kept in ketosis and stayed on ss, i feel that cd counsellors just dont want you buying anything other than their products
I will stick with just the shakes & hopefully get through it. Once I'm a couple of weeks into it I'm sure I'll be fine but it's just sooo hard this time round to do the diet.
I'm going on holiday 4 weeks on Friday so really would like to get rid of at least 1 of the stones I put back on by then.
Been trying to restart the diet for ages now but always give up after a few days.
I'm also really worried that I'll put any weight I lose back on like last time as soon as I start eating real food again.
There seem to be alot of people who have been on & off the diet - any tips on how to get back into (& not give up) it as a restarter?
Hi, Im a restarter (after about 50 attempts) think Im into my 4th week now although I am not advocating that you do this I have found the only way I can get back into a restart is to wean myself back.I allowed myself small amounts of protein ie chicken, ham,or i was having the light babybels just 1 or 2 a day, this is the only way i have been able to do it,i still keep something in the fridge but dont touch it,kind of weigh up whether its worth having, as oppose to the weight loss,i spend a lot of time debating things with myself in front of the fridge!! It really is hard the first week to get back into the routine, but once that week or so is behind you,it really does become so much easier, have you tried the cranberry bars they are really nice, well i think they are.Good luck Julie xx

Thanks Julie, I think I'm just going to have to try it the hard way as I can't trust myself with the odd bit of protein. Fell down yesterday as was persuaded to go to the pub for lunch where I was determined to just have a water but was weak & told myself a mushroom omlette would be ok - ended up having the chips that came with it too then got into that 'well, i've messed it up now so may as well carry on' frame of mind & had a biscuit & a donut!
I really am struggling this time though, still on the packs I had left over, feel almost embarassed to go back to my councillor as I've tried to get back on it & failed so many times now!
Why dont you try making something out of the packs, crisps or a biscuit or something Ails had a great idea for a trifle using mixamousse and flavourings it really is nice if you havent got the recipies i will bump them up for you Julie xx

Hi there. I'm battling with re-start too, got through week one, faltered a bit week two, pretty much back on track this week. I do have a scrambled egg with the tiniest smidge of cheese from time to time, and I have practically all my shakes made into mousse these days (I only have sweet ones left). So its not sticking to the plan 100% for optimum weight loss but if it keeps me on it a bit longer then I can handle maybe losing a pound a week less.
Restarts are notoriously difficult, as you've seen on here. Generally you've got less to lose, therefore less to gain (if you get my twisted logic!). You've lost the anticipation of people seeing you slim for the first time in ages, and for going out getting lots of new stuff (cos now you're trying to squeeze back into what you bought last time!) When you do it the first time you pretty much know its for the long haul and are focussed on that. This time its hour by hour and every day we get through is a bonus. Trick is not to give up completely, easier said than done. Anyway, thats the 'restart philosiphy according to Jax'...for what its worth (probably bunkum!)
Just do your best each day, some days will be bester than others

Thanks, recipes being bumped would be much appreciated. I used to have the choc packs a muffin or biscuit quite alot before too but forgotten the recipes for those too.
Thanks slot & well done on your losses - 19lb in 3 weeks is simply amazing!
I was never the fastest loser last time round, really hoping for a faster loss this time.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, however, my main concern is optimum health whilst using CD products not optimum sales, if you are using 2 CD and another bar which is not compatible you are not complying with safety regs for this type of diet.
Of course you can lose weight using other products, however, risking health and safety really isn't worth it.
I am sure you will not agree with me, however, facts are facts.

Hi Jax, think you posted as I was replying to Julie's post.
I think you've probably got a good point though with your theory - really hope I can stick with it this time - the holiday coming up might help keep me focussed.
