Hi all,

Nz sounds fantastic. We were thinkin of going there for our honeynoon, but it would be their winter so decided against it. Glad you had a good time.

I must admit that I'm like Lucy. In day four, the headache has now gone, but no weight. Got a big electronic scales in work and they haven't budged. Mind you, in my first ever week I only lost 2lb and hadn't cheated on that. My CDC said I may not store much glucogen in the first place. Will have to measure myself as although is didn't lose weight I did lose inches.

8lb in 5 days is brillient. I'm envious.

Lucy, I have to admit that my binges, although few in the last 5 weeks, alarmed me with their intensity, and abstinence/SSing does make me feel so much more in control of them. This is something I really have to get a grip of if I'm going to keep the weight off long term, and I was seeing a therapist last year who really helped. I have also had good results from hypnotherapy, and am considering using that to get to the bottom of my binge eating problem. Did any of you see the tonight programme 'Half Ton hospital'? It reckoned that 30% of people have a binge eating disorder and that accounts for the obesity epidemic in the US and the UK. I'm not sure it can be that simple though.

I saw the programme Vikki, worrying wasnt it, problem was the larger of the people in that hospital werent at all interested in actually doing anything about their weight, eventho they knew it would probably kill them, very sad really, but how do you help someone who wont help themselves? OK we arent in the same category as the 40 stone man (or whatever he was), but he started somewhere didnt he and at least everyone here wants to help themselves and that has to be the first step doesnt it. What made me furious was the fact that the hospital providing this 'care' programme let them order in pizza/burgers and whatever...those people must have been paying to stay there or their insurance was. I'd void their insurance if they weren't playing the game myself...school of tough love me, can you tell? It was real shout at the telly stuff-marvellous!!

Hi Vikki
didnt see the prog, heard about it... definitely dodgy allowing them to order in take away etc. Really I feel compulsive eating is as much an addiction for me, so im not sure they can help themselves if they dont have the motivation, its like drug rehab really isnt it.
Anyway, thanks for the invite, thought I would pop in and join you on the way!!

Another day of abstinence awaits us..and how are we all feeling about that? I'm actually feeling really good and so glad that I've decided to do it. I realised that I was getting quite stressed with counting points/calories/syns whatever over these last weeks...and freaking out every time I ate something that wasn't virtuously diet related, like a piece of chocolate for instance. It's not a good attitude to have and I am working on retraining my head to understand that any food is OK and it's all to do with proportions.

I've got a lovely day planned today, once I finish work I'm off to have my hair cut, then I'll go off to a factory retail park for some bargain hunting. I must get the children their easter eggs today too, as all the shops seem to be running out already. Last year we left it until Maundy Thursday and couldn't find anything at all! I'll also get some little bits and bobs for an egg hunt for them.

Hope that you are all well?

Vikki.

That sounds like a nice day.I could do with a bit of retail therapy. Feeling a tad light headed, so I'll be having a quiet one with plenty of water.

I've never been into easter eggs. Hated chocolate when I was young. (Wish I still did)

Hi Lucy,
I take it you haven't told your friends your on this diet. I never told my friends for a long time, I don't understand why. I think I was expecting them to look at me disapprovingly.
On the day I told my work mates they said oh thats nice, we're going to the chippy today for lunch. I had to sit there with my strawberry shake while they all scoffed in front of me.

People who I thought would dissagree have enquired how it's going and one even showing an interest in doing it herself.

You have lost so much weight already. looks like you've been doing really well. How have you managed to go out for meals in the past?

Hello Helen and welcome aboard! Well done on avoiding the chips, you'll find yourself sniffing food a lot over the next 3 months! I even froze a portion of some meals because they looked so darn good...threw them out a few weeks later mind, but it helped me to know it was there for me to eat at a later date if I wanted it so bad.

I'm going to have a muffin for supper tonight too. I've only had 2 packs so far today, as I've been swanning about like a lady of leisure all day!! The downside is that I've only had 2 litres of water so far as well...so I'm necking it down like mad at the moment. Which leads me to a question for someone...should I drink more when I go running? I only did a 3 miler today, out for about 30 mins in total...didn't get too hot as I wore a vest and breathable jacket...what do you think? That's good isn't it, get me hair done, gorgeous highlights, all straightened and lovely and then go out running and look like a scarecrow now!! Plus point is that I got it all done for free as I gave my hairdresser all my too big clothes!!!RESULT!!!!

As for tickers I see that OldMummy has bumped up the 'How to' ticker thread...check it out for details!!

Vikki.
