Hi Selena You could try the Cambridge Diet, the founders of LL use to be part of this organisation when it was called Success and Cambridge produce the LL drinks. You don't get the group CBT but do have access to a counsellor. Cost 30 pw so not much of a saving. The only other one is Lipotrim which your Doctor can prescribe and the doctor/nurse or local chemist can monitor. Only problem is finding Lipotrim supplier in your area. You should find both websites by seraching on Google. Sorry I can't be more helpful, I hope you find something suitable. Good Luck

45 per weeek? Hell! I pay 60 per week. Why should there be any difference in cost? I am in West Sussex, where are you? Anyway, to answer your question, how much would you spend on food normally? This programme requires no further food purchases (other than a jar of coffee). I am thinking of working out how much I am saving on hot water (washing up), fairy liquid, electricity and washing powder (tea towels), petrol (no trips to Tesco). I could add more but you get the point? Also, this is not for the rest of your life. 3 stone in 2 months is what I am told weight loss should be. After reaching goal weight, LL costs should reduce but then your food bill will restart.

Hi Sdestinyp, Gents get 4 foodpacks a day and Ladies only 3. So the cost difference might be associated with this. Lynne

Thanks Lynne. I didn't know that. Only 3 foodpacks a day for women? No wonder some of you are feeling the strain. At least I know I only ever have to wait 4 hours for my next 'meal'.

Selana, I am sorry that the cost is a problem for you. I thought it expensive until I worked it out that it costs just over 2 per packet - most people would spend more than that on a meal. I now find that I am spending much less on food as it seems it was me who was eating a lot of it - now there's a surprise!! I have tried Cambridge Diet as well but it didn't work for me and there have been articles on the internet about whether it is safe. Think carefully about your budget and whether or not you can reduce expenditure in other areas of your life. Good luck.

When I started LL I also thought how the hell am I going to afford it, there is still 4 mouths to feed but when I emptied out my fridge of things that only I would have eaten I must of thrown away at least 10-15 worth of stuff.. this on top of other things I would usually have eaten... you don't realise how much we actually eat in a week..quiet scary

thanks so much for all of your replies and for taking the time to write them.i've been reading the message boards for a few weeks now and you are all so supportive of each other its really great to read them all. i desided to give weight watchers another go but i'm going to do it at home by myself and read all the new messages on here every day to keep me going. i know this is for lighter life members but reading the messages gives me encouragement to lose weight so i hope no-one minds if i carry on reading. thanks again
